Political analyst Nate Silver out at FiveThirtyEight, which he founded, after parent company Disney makes cuts

It's a BLOODBATH out there in the media this week.

The second round of Disney layoffs once again hit ABC News on Tuesday, with Nate Silver's data-driven politics and journalism brand FiveThirtyEight among those being impacted.

Silver told FiveThirtyEight employees in a Slack message that he expects to leave Disney when his contract is up, which he added would be "soon," The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

ABC News is expected to keep the FiveThirtyEight brand name, with plans to streamline the site and make it more efficient.

Here's a tweet from Silver with the same message:

Silver started off his career as a sports statistician but began branching out into politics with the creation of 528 as a blog that analyzed election predictions. He won major accolades by correctly predicting the results of the 2008 presidential election in every state except Indiana, as well as the results of every U.S. Senate race.

In 2013, ESPN acquired the site. ESPN has been owned by ABC since the 1980s and ABC has been owned by the Walt Disney Company since 1996, so at that point, the company's future became tied to the Mouse House. Disney moved the brand from ESPN to its ABC News division several years ago.

Unfortunately, Silver fell on hard times by losing his prophetic touch to the Woke Monster, falling massively short on the 2016 and 2020 elections, as well as stumping for abortion.

Now, woke Disney is making 7,000 job cuts by summer in an effort to stop its financial freefall.

In his Slack message, Silver wrote that "unfortunately the day we've been worried about has arrived."

"We don't yet know the scope of these layoffs, exactly who is impacted, or the terms under which they are departing, but it is going to be a hard day for all of us," he added.

At this point, I have to wonder which media icon will have his or her neck on the chopping block next!
