According to Vatican News, in one of his final acts, Pope Francis left his favorite popemobile to the Palestinians.
His idea was that it be turned into a Popemobile clinic that could help children in Gaza.
Caritas Jerusalem was chosen to make the changes to the Popemobile, which they are calling "The Vehicle of Hope:"
The repurposed popemobile is being outfitted with equipment for diagnosis, examination, and treatment - including rapid tests for infections, diagnostic instruments, vaccines, suture kits, and other life-saving supplies. It will be staffed by doctors and medics, reaching children in the most isolated corners of Gaza once humanitarian access to the strip is restored.
While the desire to help the children in Gaza is certainly admirable, it does seem a little misplaced given the history of clinics in the Gaza Strip.
