Did U.N. staffers purposely stop the escalator when Trump walked in the door of the headquarters in New York?
On Sunday, two full days before Trump entered the building to address the General Assembly, British outlet The Times reported that staff members had joked about turning off the escalators.
In a followup, however, The Times noted that the U.N. claims the problem was caused by a member of Trump's own staff.
The United Nations has denied any wrongdoing and said the escalator's emergency stop may have been 'inadvertently triggered' by a videographer working for the Trump administration.
U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric claimed Trump's photographer triggered the escalator's safety mechanisms on the "comb step" at the top of the escalator. A readout from the escalator's computer reportedly confirmed this.
If that were the only glitch, it likely wouldn't have raised so many eyebrows, but it was not the only glitch.
When Trump got to the podium to address the general assembly, the teleprompter was not working — although service was later restored — and towards the end of his speech the main UN audio feed to TV news channels switched over to a foreign language translation, obscuring some of his words.
Now, the president is demanding answers.
A REAL DISGRACE took place at the United Nations yesterday - Not one, not two, but three very sinister events! First, the escalator going up to the Main Speaking Floor came to a screeching halt. It stopped on a dime. It's amazing that Melania and I didn't fall forward onto the sharp edges of these steel steps, face first. It was only that we were each holding the handrail tightly or, it would have been a disaster.
This was absolutely sabotage, as noted by a day's earlier 'post' in The London Times that said UN workers 'joked about turning off an escalator.' The people that did it should be arrested! Then, as I stood before a Television crowd of millions of people all over the World, and important Leaders in the Hall, my teleprompter didn't work. It was stone cold dark. I immediately thought to myself, 'Wow, first the escalator event, and now a bad teleprompter. What kind of a place is this?'
I need Trump to do voiceovers of CSPAN clips with his inner monologue, because it's extremely entertaining. 😂
| then proceeded to make a Speech without a teleprompter, which kicked in about 15 minutes later. The good news is the Speech has gotten fantastic reviews. Maybe they appreciated the fact that very few people could have done what I did.
Anyway, the president is now calling the U.N.'s very existence into question as he demands an investigation.
This wasn't a coincidence, this was triple sabotage at the UN. They ought to be ashamed of themselves. I'm sending a copy of this letter to the Secretary General, and I demand an immediate investigation. No wonder the United Nations hasn't been able to do the job that they were put in existence to do.
Trump wants footage of all the security tapes, "especially the emergency stop button," and says the Secret Service is involved in the investigation.
