Psycho church had "communion" of Skittles and iced tea in remembrance of Trayvon Martin's "last supper" before his "crucifixion"!

A tweet from earlier this year by "Reverend" Jacqui Lewis is making the rounds again. In the tweet, she boasted about holding communion services at her church... not in remembrance of Christ's sacrifice for us, but in remembrance of Trayvon Martin's "crucifixion":

This is such a gross twisting of the gospel. Even if you believe that Trayvon was the innocent child the media portrayed, there is no excuse for this.

Frankly, I don't even have words for this. So instead, I'll just let some relevant Bible verses do the talking.

Who is communion supposed to be about? Oh... right:

"...and when He had given thanks, He broke it, and said, 'This is My body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.' In the same way also He took the cup, after supper, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in My blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.'"

1 Cor 11:24-25 ESV (emphasis mine)

What happens if someone preaches a different gospel? Ah... yes:

"But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed."

Galations 1:8 NKJV

How do you know this is a different gospel? Well...

"Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also. Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise that he made to us—eternal life. I write these things to you about those who are trying to deceive you."

1 John 2:22-26 ESV

How's this all gonna work out for people who teach this kind of crap? Uh... not great:

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

2 Peter 2:1-3 ESV

This is uncool on so many levels. If your church starts doing this kind of thing, I've got one word for you:

RUN.
