UPDATE: CNN has edited its content to clarify that the shooter was apparently against transgender ideology, but according to his father, was gay.
Because of this, I am editing the article, which previously labeled him as pro-transgender until we have more info from a source more reputable than CNN.
According to The Daily Mail, the shooter's father told the FBI in 2023 that his son was "bullied for being gay" (this could be taken hypothetically as well):
'It was very difficult for him to go to school and not get picked on,' Colin Gray told an investigator, according to a transcript of the conversation obtained by DailyMail.com.
The father added: 'It went from one thing to another... I was trying to get him on the golf team... [they were like], "Oh, look, Colt's gay. He's dating that guy."
'Just ridiculed him day after day after day.'
