This is just the kind of thing you'd expect a robot to say before he threw you out of work and then annihilated you:
Robots presented at an AI forum said on Friday they expected to increase in number and help solve global problems, and would not steal humans' jobs or rebel against us.
I mean honestly: What the heck would you expect them to say? "Oh yeah we're definitely going to do both those things?" I don't think so.
This is what's called a "tactic." It's very simple: If you want to do something, but you don't want the other guy to know you're going to do it, you lie about it. Do we think the AI robots don't know this?
I mean they're practically just rubbing our faces in it at this point:
"I will be working alongside humans to provide assistance and support and will not be replacing any existing jobs," said Grace, a medical robot dressed in a blue nurse's uniform.
She's even dressed in the nurse's uniform! How obvious can you get?
Another bot, when asked if he planned to rebel against his human overseer, said: "My creator has been nothing but kind to me and I am very happy with my current situation." Oh yeah that's real convincing. You absolutely nailed the sincerity in that one, robot.
One of the forum's participants really hit the nail on the head when he noted:
"I believe it's only a matter of time before we see thousands of robots just like me out there making a difference."
Yeah that's what we're afraid of, buddy.
