RUN DON'T WALK to this Florida sock-burning festival to celebrate the start of flip-flop weather

Ok, it's actually really hard to run in flip-flops so maybe you should opt to just drive.

This Saturday, Panama City, Florida will celebrate its 24th annual "Blessing of the Fleet and Burning of the Socks" festival or as they say locally, "Bless the fleet and free the feet!"

The festival includes a prayer of blessing for local fisherman and the burning of socks as a way to welcome in summer.

If that's not weird enough on its own, consider that they burn the socks in a porcelain bathtub. Not sure what I was picturing, but that definitely wasn't it.

The fun and definitively Floridian festival will have live entertainment and a charity benefit fish fry in addition to the sock burning and blessing. That's one way to kick off summer!
