Russell Brand announces he's leaving YouTube for Rumble due to censorship, Elon Musk chimes in with thoughts

Actor and comedian Russell Brand is one of the most interesting free-thinkers in today's society.

He may not get everything right, or even most things, but he certainly is not afraid to question the prevailing narrative and go against the mainstream.

And for that reason, he has been censored on Youtube.

Here, Brand explains why he thinks independent voices are censored on YouTube while "mainstream" voices are allowed to continue to promote misinformation.

We have been officially censored on YouTube. They took down one of our videos for misinformation. But why are big media organizations not censored for misinformation in the same way? Is it because YouTube are part of the mainstream media now?

The short answer to his question is "yes," but Brand explains his situation and the hypocrisy of the Big Tech platform and why he has chosen to abandon YouTube.

This misinformation strike and takedown demonstrates exactly what it is we're talking about. We made an error, in my opinion a relatively small error, and we're being penalized. For me, that looks like censorship. And the reason I think it looks like censorship is because there's mainstream media misinformation up all the time.

As an example, Brand shows a Rachel Maddow clip which shows her peddling the lie that the covid vaccines work and will prevent you from contracting and spreading covid.

Now I think most of us know not that that's not true. But that video is up on YouTube right now. In my opinion, that's misinformation. So we're asking: Is there one standard for independent news broadcasters, like us on our channel, and a different standard for what we would call the "mainstream media"?

YouTube is now a part of the mainstream, and it will defend its hegemony above all else. There is no doubt that YouTube will censor independent conservative voices for misinformation while allowing leftwing voices to spout all sorts of lies.

This video got the attention of Elon Musk, who replied with this:

Musk is awake to this censorship and double standard.

That's good. He has lots of influence.

Conservative broadcaster Dan Bongino then reached out to Musk to ask him if he'd join in the fight and promote Rumble, but Elon shirked it off.

Elon is currently in a battle against Twitter, so it makes sense that he might just want to focus on one thing at a time.

The censorship of one side of the aisle is abundantly clear, and it'll take people like Elon Musk and Russell Brand speaking out to make a real change.
