Watch San Francisco's official "fat positivity" expert explain why eating less cake is oppression
· Dec 19, 2024 · NottheBee.com

You thought that headline was a joke, didn't you?

Yes, San Fran has gone beyond the standard leftist utopia of poop on the streets, homeless encampments on every corner and drug needles in every direction, and has decided to spend taxpayer funds on a fat woman to advise them on fat policy.

Sorry, let me be more politically correct. The San Francisco Department of Public Health has hired an "anti-weight-based discrimination" expert to advise them on "weight stigma and weight neutrality" so that residents don't feel guilty when "moralizing impulses" tell them to stop eating.

Make sense?

The woman in question is Virgie Tovar, author of "You Have the Right to Remain Fat" (a lesser known Miranda right) and "fat positivity and body acceptance" guru.

"I'm UNBELIEVABLY proud to serve the city I've called home for almost 20 years in this way! This consultancy is an absolute dream come true, and it's my biggest hope and belief that weight neutrality will be the future of public health," she said on Instagram.

Tovar leads a camp called (get ready for it) Camp Thunder Thighs (although it is still on "hiatus" until it's "safer to gather" without getting Covid), and this is the description:

1. Community, 2. A critical and intersectional political education, 3. Practical tools for healing and resiliency, 4. A non-judgmental space to recuperate our relationship to food, and 5. Movement whose only purpose is pleasure - for a weekend in a beautiful place so you can use these tools to heal yourself and change the trajectory of history. Basically.

Other interests include: smashing patriarchy, eating fancy desserts, and helping to build a world where every single person - regardless of size or health status - lives a life free from discrimination and bigotry.

We should never bully someone for their weight.

But is it bullying to point out that obesity is unhealthy, and that the San Francisco Department of Health is failing in its only duty by spending its hefty resources on people like Virgie Tovar?

No, of course it's not.
