Bro, who does this??

A 45-year-old Wisconsin father named Ryan Borgwardt reportedly went missing back in August while kayaking in Green Lake County, Wisconsin. Turns out he faked his disappearance and is now possibly in Europe.

Locals spent 54 DAYS searching for Borgwardt, including Keith Cormican, who runs a nonprofit called Bruce's Legacy that conducts water searches.

Meanwhile, local authorities tapped the feds, who discovered that Bogwardt had left the country and had taken steps to cover his tracks:

In October, [Green Lake County Sheriff Mark] Podoll said he found out law enforcement in Canada ran Borgwardt's passport Aug. 13, the day after he disappeared.

‘Wow. Yeah. That was something we didn't expect,' Podoll said.

Police had found Borgwardt's kayak and life vest on the lake, with his fishing gear abandoned nearby.

Authorities now believe he may have fled the country to be with a woman he met on the internet.

An investigation found Borgwardt had a second passport, replaced a hard drive on his laptop, cleared browsers on the day of his disappearance, had inquiries about moving funds to foreign banks, purchased airline gift cards, took out a $375,000 life insurance policy, and was communicating with a woman in Uzbekistan, according to the GreenLake County Sheriff's Office.

THE HECK!

A bunch of people spent 54 days looking for this guy's body in a lake and he's off traveling the world?

'It's a little tough to swallow because it required a lot of expenses on this one,' said Cormican.

Meanwhile, the Borgwardt family is devastated.

‘I cannot imagine what [his wife is] going through, and they're going through; it's really hard, because one, they felt that the dad was drowned a day ago. They found out that he wasn't,' said Sheriff Podoll.

Imagine thinking your husband, or your dad, had drowned in a Wisconsin lake and then finding out later that he'd abandoned you to fly across the world for some online thot.

Police are trying to make contact with Borgwardt, and they plan to sue him for wasting county resources once they get ahold of him.

Dude tried to fake his death in order to feel better about abandoning his family, and now everybody knows his story.
