Okay, this is my kinda guy right here: Speeding down the highway for some fried chicken.
Bro was going the distance for some Raising Cane's and this officer just came in and stole his freedom away!
A man was cited after speeding to get chicken strips from Raising Cane's, according to the Stanton County Sheriff's Office.
On Sunday around 1 p.m., a deputy spotted a 19-year-old South Dakota man speeding down Highway 57 about 12 miles south of Stanton. The deputy clocked the northbound driver at nearly 120 miles per hour. The posted speed limit is 65 miles per hour.
The deputy pulled the vehicle over, and the driver told the deputy he was in a hurry to get home. But he first needed to make a stop at Raising Cane's to get some chicken strips. The nearest restaurant would have taken the driver through Norfolk.
He was cited for careless driving and speeding at 118 miles per hour in a 65 mile per hour zone.
Okay, I did the math. The driver had 25 miles to go on his route to Raising Cane's Chicken, so if he had driven the speed limit โ let's say 70 โ he'd have gotten there in about 22 minutes. Buuut, let's say he kept up that 118mph speed: He'd have arrived in just 13 minutes, shaving nine minutes off of his drive.
To me, nine minutes could be the difference between fresh-from-the-fryer fried chicken, and 10-minutes-under-the-heat-lamp fried chicken.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why driving 118mph is excusable in this particular situation.
Disclaimer: Drive the speed limit (or nine over like a normal person).
