The moderator of the next presidential debate, C-SPAN's Steve Scully, has landed himself in some dangerously hot water when Thursday night he tweeted what he must have thought was a private message to former Trump Communications Director, now #Resistance #NeverTrump leader, Anthony Scaramucci.
The now deleted tweet, which has been archived, seems to be a message to Anthony Scaramucci asking his advice on how to address Trump after the president stated that he would not participate in a virtual debate.
You'll recall that the selection of Scully has been under scrutiny considering the newsman used to intern for Joe Biden. We have been assured that Scully will be a fair and honest moderator and that he is the best man for the job. Now it seems like he is coordinating his plans in the lead up to the debate with prominent Trump-haters like Anthony "Pinky Ring" Scaramucci, who dedicate every day of their lives to try to take down Trump.
Scaramucci made matters worse, amplifying the mistake when he quote tweeted the question.
Some very legitimate concerns are being raised over this, at the very least, unprofessional action taken by the moderator.
Scully responded to this controversy thusly:
Yep. Scully panicked, deleted his whole account, then later figured out how to delete just the single tweet and reinstated his account with the tweet in question removed.
Now Scully is using the Joy Reid defense, claiming his account was hacked (YEA OK LOL). I'm sure this excuse will fly.
The President has already stated that he will not participate in a virtual debate. With this news about the debate's moderator seeking counsel from one of America's most prominent anti-Trumpers, his stand seems all the more justified.
