Is anyone surprised by this?
Nate Silver just unearthed some data from a Cooperative Election Study (CES), a very large survey with 60,000 respondents, showing conservatives of every age group and demographic are happier than liberals, and it's not even close.
The study found conservatives who reported "excellent mental health" outnumbered liberals 51-20.
Conversely, it found liberals who reported "poor mental health" outnumbered conservatives 45-19.
Here's Nate Silver breaking it down:
No matter the income, marital status, gender, age, religion, race, and level of education, conservatives were happier in every single category.
There are some real gems there. You likely predicted that atheist libs were going to be far less happy than conservative Christians, or that childless feminists would be less satisfied with life than trad moms with families (though I laughed when I saw conservatives with grown kids were happier than those still changing diapers 😂).
But did you see that conservatives apparently become happier if they are interested in news/politics and like to post on social media?
Before you think "Trump is in office, so of course conservatives are happier," this survey was taken in 2022, when the Left was running everything.
