The University of Michigan's annual "Monitoring the Future" study uses benchmark assessments across the country to determine the intelligence rate of the nation ... and things are not looking good.
Even compared to something as recent as the 2010s, intelligence markers like basic comprehension, reasoning, and problem solving have taken a dive.

Math comprehension, and reasoning is also on the decline.
Most experts are chalking this decline in intelligence all up to social media and the internet and how we interact with information.
But social media isn't the only thing that changed between the 2010s and today. There's also been a concerted effort to lower the standards in education in the name of "diversity, equity, and inclusion" (AKA Marxism).
If we want to find the true culprit, I'd start by looking at our nation's schools.
