President Trump has been touting the fact that Walmart says their Thanksgiving bundle is down 25% from last year.
This sounds great … until you look at the fine print.
The Walmart Thanksgiving bundle isn't the same as last year.
It has less items.
In order to save on Thanksgiving at Walmart this year, here's what you have to forgo:
Sweet Potatoes
Marshmallows
Cornbread
Onions
Celery
Chicken Broth
Poultry Seasoning
Cranberry Sauce
Pecan Pie
Whipped cream
(But Walmart has added a box of Mac and Cheese to make up for all the loss.)
If you want to keep everything the same, according to Consumer Affairs, the average Thanksgiving dinner is going to run a whopping $61.14.
To put that in perspective, Biden's record was $64.05 in 2022.
Here are the biggest jumps this year in price:
The average 12-ounce can of jellied cranberry sauce jumped from $2.34 to $3.41, a 45.73% increase
Stuffing also saw a significant rise, up 14.24% year-over-year
Homestyle gravy at 14.17%
Buttermilk biscuits increased 11.35%.
Whipped topping, a dessert essential, rose 11.16%.
The traditional frozen turkey, typically a 10-pound bird, is up 6.67%, costing an average of $24.00 in 2025.
I don't think anyone ever believed we'd go back to 2019 prices once Biden was out of office (remember our government printed a gazillion dollars in 2020), but these are huge jumps in costs.
Thankfully, one Thanksgiving staple is down.
Pumpkin pie mix fell 5.33%, from $4.69 to $4.44
That's great, but what's pumpkin pie without the whipped cream?
