This week the United States entered a bold new era in which the federal government is actively and explicitly endorsing the proposal that children as young as ten years old should have access to irreversible mutilative genital surgery:

The White House flagged a resource from the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health on "Transgender Day of Visibility" intended to "inform parents and guardians, educators, and other persons supporting children and adolescents with information on what is gender-affirming care and why it is important to transgender, nonbinary, and other gender expansive young people's well-being."

Among the standards of "gender-affirming care" for "transgender young people" are "gender-affirming surgeries," which the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health says can be used "case-by-case in adolescence."

(The World Health Organization states that adolescence occurs "from ages 10 to 19," and our own Youth.gov gives the same age parameters.)

Pretty wild, deeply disturbing stuff! But wait a second: What's the office that propagated these standards of medical butchery? The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health?

Where have I heard that before? Hmm. Oh wait yes now I remember. From late March 2021:

The Senate voted Wednesday to confirm Dr. Rachel Levine as assistant secretary for health in the Department of Health and Human Services. The vote is a history-making one: Levine is the first openly transgender federal official to be confirmed by the Senate.

Now that's a quick turnaround: A transgender-identifying man was installed as the assistant secretary for health, and now almost exactly a year later OASH is explicitly supporting irreversible gender mutilation of children as young as 10 years old—all in the name of "affirmation," of course!

Say what you want about the nauseating depravities of modern progressivism, they sure know how to get results!

Buckle up, folks, our government is leading us in new and awful and horrifying directions.
