The British government is urging citizens to maybe not heat their homes at night in order to reach climate goals

Yes, climate change hysteria is a cult.

Yes, it wants your life to be materially worse-off than it is now.

Yes, it wants you to abandon all of the magnificent technological advances of the last 100 years and live a miserable life resembling something like subsistence farming.

Why do you ask?

Britain's Climate Change Committee (CCC) has urged millions of Britons to not heat their homes in the evening to help the government hit its net zero target. …

Contained in a document on "behavior change," the CCC recommended that Britons instead "pre-heat" their houses in the afternoons when electricity use is lower, and would theoretically save families money. …

"Where homes are sufficiently well insulated, it is possible to pre-heat ahead of peak times, enabling access to cheaper tariffs which reflect the reduced costs associated with running networks and producing power during off-peak times."

"Pre-heat." They want you to "pre-heat" your home. Like it's an oven.

I don't suppose this has anything to do with the fact that Britain has switched nearly 40% of its grid over to "renewable" energy, does it?

I mean, green technologies are very much not ready for prime time. They haven't really been developed yet to provide efficient, cheap, available energy at scale. Moving a huge chunk of your energy grid over to this untested and uncertain generation might be putting a huge strain on the grid, leading regulators to become just pathetically desperate enough to ask you turn your heat off at night.

Hey, don't worry though: As it drops below freezing, the shaky energy grid will also probably plunge your home into darkness. With no lights to read by, you can feel pretty comfortable just burning all the books in your home to stay warm.

Good luck with all this, Britain!
