If you needed more proof that the ACLU is a woke, trash, actively poisonous institution in American politics — well, you didn't need more proof. But here it is anyway:
The American Civil Liberties Union in Indiana has filed a lawsuit against the state's Department of Corrections after a trans-identified male inmate convicted of murdering his infant stepdaughter was denied "gender affirming" surgeries.
The suit, which was filed on August 28, challenges a recently-adopted policy stipulating that the Indiana Department of Corrections (IDOC) cannot provide transgender surgeries to inmates. House Bill 1569, which took effect July 1, bans the spending of state or federal dollars on sexual reassignment surgery for inmates.
That is a great law, by the way. Taxpayer dollars shouldn't be going to fund the creepy sexual-fetish surgery of convicted criminals. This is perhaps the biggest no-brainer in U.S. legal history. Hard to top that.
The ACLU didn't get the memo, I guess. So they're filing suit claiming that this convicted baby killer — Jonathan C. Richardson, aka "Autumn Cordellioné" — is the victim of "deliberate indifference to a serious medical need," i.e. surgery to create fake female genitals for him.
Most hilariously, the worthless "civil liberties" group claims that the state policy "discriminates … in violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment."
That's right: By banning transgender surgeries for felons and murderers, Indiana is apparently violating the 14th Amendment, a constitutional measure meant to ensure equal citizenship for U.S. residents, especially freed slaves, in the aftermath of the Civil War.
Can you see the connection there? Anything?
Apparently the ACLU can. Someone figure out what historians they've consulted.
Richardson only began identifying as a woman long after he was arrested, though the ACLU hilariously claims that he'd been doing so since he was six years old. They took the mentally ill word of a convicted baby killer that he's believed himself a woman for decades rather than only recently amid the ongoing transgender zeitgeist.
