I, John Knox, founder of the Church of Scotland, am currently rolling over in my grave.
Here we are in 2022 and another bastion of Christendom has fallen to the trends of the world.
The Church of Scotland's General Assembly just voted to allow their clergy to perform and recognize same-sex "marriages."
The Church of Scotland has voted to allow clergy to conduct same-sex marriages for the first time.
Members of the General Assembly in Edinburgh voted to change church law following years of campaigning.
It means same-sex couples will be able to marry in church in services conducted by ministers.
Ministers and deacons will be able to apply to become celebrants of same sex marriage, but they will not be forced to take part.
The results of the vote were: 274 for and 136 against.
Just to show you how far Christians have strayed, the vote wasn't even particularly close.
Rt Rev Dr Iain Greenshields, moderator of the General Assembly, said: "The Church of Scotland is a broad church and there are diverse views on the subject of same-sex marriage among its members.
"There has been a lengthy, prayerful and in-depth discussion and debate about this topic for many years at all levels of the Church to find a solution that respects diversity and values the beliefs of all."
You'll notice that the goal of the church leaders was not to rightly interpret Scripture or honor God's commands.
Instead, they worked to "respect diversity" and "value the beliefs of all."
Yeah, these fools obviously didn't listen to anything I had to say. And I quote (from myself):
A man with God is always in the majority.
What dolts!
Oh, and for anyone who wonders at my position on same-sex "marriages," let me point out that I'm a strong believer in Natural Law and have made far spicier comments than saying men can't get married to other men. Take this jab directed at Bloody Mary:
"To promote a woman to bear rule, superiority, dominion, or empire above any realm, nation, or city, is repugnant to nature; contumely to God, a thing most contrary to his revealed will and approved ordinance; and finally, it is the subversion of good order, of all equity and justice." โ The First Blast of the Trumpet Against the Monstrous Regiment of Women, 1558
Yeah, that's right. I published something with the title, "The First Blast of the Trumpet Against the Monstrous Regiment of Women." Come at me bro.
If I had that to say about the woman ruling Scotland and England, what do you think I'd have to say to the feckless fools running the church I started?
