I'm not sure who among us was anxiously awaiting for their five-year-old to receive yet another injection of the COVID vaccine, but whoever you are... your number just came up:

The US Food and Drug Administration has granted emergency use authorization for a booster dose of Pfizer/BioNTech's Covid-19 vaccine for children ages 5 to 11 at least five months after completion of the primary vaccine series.

Pfizer requested this EUA at the end of April, citing company data that showed that a third vaccine dose raised Omicron-fighting antibodies by 36 times in this age group.

Well, that certainly sounds like a big deal, although Omicron is already basically the sniffles, so you're giving your kid a third dose of an experimental vaccine that's had plenty of reported side effects... for the sniffles.

It's also most assuredly worth pointing out that the 5-to-11 demographic constitutes less than 0.1% of all COVID-19 deaths according to data from the CDC!
