The great sanctuary state of Massachusetts just declared a state of emergency over the number of illegal immigrants it's having to absorb

I tell ya, it couldn't have happened to a nicer state:

Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey declared a state of emergency Tuesday, citing an influx of migrants seeking shelter at a time when the cost of housing — already in short supply — continues to rise.

There are nearly 5,600 families or more than 20,000 people - many of whom are migrants -- currently living in state shelters, including infants, young children and pregnant women. That is up from around 3,100 families a year ago, about an 80% increase, Healey said.

Wow, a near-100% jump in the number of illegal immigrants in just a year!

Call me crazy but I wonder if declaring yourself a "sanctuary" to these folks had anything to do with it.

Massachusetts is at present the subject of a grand experiment: What happens when you throw open your state's borders, government, facilities, housing and public services to thousands and thousands of desperate people, with no real plan in place and no idea how to care for a massive influx of men, women and children with no homes, no money, no food and no resources?

Well, you get this: What Gov. Healey called "exponentially more [people] than our state has ever served in our emergency assistance program." Is there even any money left in that program? Maybe just a few pennies rattling around in there by this point.

The state is asking the federal government for both financial aid for the illegal immigrant crisis as well as "expedited work authorizations" to allow the migrants to find work. The state has "also launched a new migrant relief fund."

Sounds like the kind of thing that's just going to make this "state of emergency" even worse. Oh well!
