This story really makes you realize just how young America is.
John Tyler was the 10th president of the United States, serving from 1841-1845, and until this week he had a living grandson - yes, GRANDSON - named Harrison Ruffin Tyler.
Yes, in 2025 we had a living link just two generations removed from a man who was president 20 years before the American Civil War.
Get a load of this:
[President John] Tyler had 15 children, eight with his first wife, Letitia, and then seven more with his second wife, Julia Gardiner Tyler, whom he married following Letitia's death.
Harrison Ruffin Tyler was the son of President Tyler' 13th child, Lyon Gardiner Tyler, who was born in the 10th president's later years. President Tyler's last child was born when he was 70-years-old.

Bro was 70!!!
Lyon Gardiner Tyler became the president of William and Mary College. He also married twice and had two children, including Harrison, when he himself was in his 70s.

Son was also in his seventies!!!
Wild!!!
Well, now this connection to early American history is gone. But at least we've become aware of the incredible genes in the Tyler family.
This video from CBS News is 7 years old, but the interview with Tyler's grandson and great grandson is really cool to see.
I'll leave this here too:
