Ignacia Fernández bested 19 other contestants in the Miss World Chile pageant.
And sure she's pretty, but that's kind of a pre-requisite in these sorts of things.
What really put her over the top was the talent portion of the pageant, where she performed a song from her death metal band Decessus:
What the heck was that?
Someone call that woman an exorcist!
The audience was shocked at first, but then erupted in a standing ovation.
One of the judge remarked he had never seen anything like her performance in a beauty pageant.
According to Miss World, after her coronation Fernández said,
I'm so happy and still in shock. I never expected this. I'm deeply grateful for all the support and love I've received from people around the world.
What matters most is showing who you are. Miss World is about having a purpose, and mine is to use my voice, literally and symbolically, to make a difference.
As Miss World Chile, Fernández will represent Chile in the Miss World competition in 2025.
