The Padres clinched a playoff berth with a game-ending triple play and now they're only two games back from stealing the division from the Dodgers

The playoff race is heating up in the MLB, and the Padres just clinched a playoff berth in the most dramatic fashion imaginable.

Up 4-2 in the bottom of the ninth in Los Angeles, two men on for the Dodgers, and the GOAT Shohei Ohtani on deck waiting to hit a walk-off homer, the Padre's go and do this.

What a play by that defense!

And Ohtani will now have to wait for that 54th homer of the season as he chases Aaron Judge (56) in the home run race.

San Diego still has a chance to catch up to Los Angeles in the standings and earn that first-round bye. They're currently two games back and coincidentally play two more games in Los Angeles tonight and tomorrow, with a three-game series out in Arizona to conclude the season.

You gotta love playoff-caliber baseball!
