Republicans aren't the only ones benefiting from the transition from Biden to Trump.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who was indicted on federal bribery charges in September by Biden's Justice Department, looks to now be in the clear after news broke Monday night that Trump's DOJ had moved to drop the case.
As reported by the New York Post:
The new DOJ under President Donald Trump instructed the Southern District of New York to dismiss the case without prejudice, meaning charges could be re-filed in the future, sources said.
'You are directed, as authorized by the Attorney General, to dismiss the pending charges' against Adams, Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove wrote in a letter obtained by The Post.
The Trump Justice Department noted that the timing of the charges at least gave the appearance that Adams was indicted as retaliation for criticizing the Biden administration's immigration policies and had an adverse effect on his effort to seek reelection:
Bove wrote that the charges have 'improperly interfered with Mayor Adams' campaign in the 2025 mayoral election' and also [have] 'unduly restricted Mayor Adams' ability to devote full attention and resources to the illegal immigration and violent crime that escalated under the policies of the prior administration.'
In any event, it's clear that, despite the 2024 election being months in the rear-view mirror and Trump being in office for several weeks …
… Joe Biden just keeps on losing.
