The U.S. just shattered its one-month record for most illegal immigrant border encounters and we're not even into the busiest part of the year yet

This unfortunately seems to be something of a regular feature of the Biden administration, but...that doesn't make it any less awful.

According to a Department of Homeland Security court document filing, US border officials encountered 234,088 illegal migrants at the US-Mexico border in April.

The new number surpassed March's 22-year high of over 221,000, is the highest monthly total in DHS history and a 30 percent increase over April 2021.

The Department of Homeland Security has officially published those numbers as of Tuesday, and when you see the whole thing laid out in chart fashion, it's...well, you can see:

As I'm sure you noticed, the historical track record for immigration does not bode well for the coming months. The last three years plainly demonstrate that illegal immigration skyrockets during warmer months: Last year, for instance, illegal immigrant encounters were nearly three times higher in July compared to October, while in 2019 the rate more than doubled in May relative to December.

That means the largest illegal immigration wave—in an already-record year—is likely headed right for us.

Good thing the Biden administration is famously tough on border security.
