On Monday, I learned that Pope Leo XIV is black.
Yeah, this guy:
No joke. Sunny Hostin has the scoop, and she's really excited about it.

She's not wrong about the geneology, actually. Chicago-based genealogist Tony Burroughs tells us:
I looked into some of the birth certificates, death certificates, census records, and sure enough, his ancestors were black — listed as black at some period ... I was able to go back to the 1850s, and they were listed as mulattos in 1850, 1860, 1870. Then when you get to 1880, they were listed as white. When you get to 1900, they were listed as Black, and then after that, they were listed as white.
Pope Leo XIV's ancestry apparently goes back to Haiti and New Orleans.
So Sunny Hostin is really excited about this.
Meanwhile, I'm just excited the pope's ancestors never ran into Sunny Hostin's ancestors...
Pope Leo XIV wouldn't necessarily be the first black pope, if we're going to go with that label for no particular reason. Three popes -- Pope Victor I, Pope Miltiades, and Pope Gelasius -- were thought to be of African descent.
Glad to see the wokies are still weirdly obsessed with melanin levels!
