The Biden administration has turned to some of the most intelligent experts on the conflict in Ukraine to help the White House get valuable information out to the masses.
Oh, wait. No. That would make too much sense, wouldn't it?
What Biden actually did was engage with a non-profit group called Gen Z for Change (oh boy, do they sound like fun) to find top content creators to orchestrate a briefing about the United States' role in the Russia/Ukraine war.
Remember this from yesterday?
Yeah, it turns out there were actually 30 TikTok stars the White House trained to parrot their propaganda.
Because that's what we need... a bunch of TikTok e-celebs talking about a serious crisis they only heard about from, well... TikTok, probably.
The TikTok stars were briefed by the one and only White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki. She explained, to the doe-eyed stars, the United States' goals in Ukraine, how the U.S. is coordinating with NATO, and what the Biden administration will do in the event that nuclear weapons are used.
Serious topics for, um, serious influencers.
Here's what that looks like:
The Washington Post reported that millions have turned to the Chinese-owned video-sharing, lip-syncing, fun little dance platform for information on the war.
The platform has served as a "primary outlet for spreading news to the masses abroad," the Washington Post reported. "Ukrainian citizens hiding in bomb shelters or fleeing their homes have shared their stories to the platform, while dangerous misinformation and Russian propaganda have also spread. And TikTok stars, many with millions of followers, have increasingly sought to make sense of the crisis for their audiences."
Lord, help us.
