These West Michiganders were so sick of a pothole that they filled it with furniture. When someone finally patched the hole, they set up a vigil to remember it. ๐Ÿ’€

I love my fellow Michiganders ๐Ÿ˜‚

How it started:

Just off of North Beacon in Grand Haven, there's a pothole that's big enough for a chair to fit in. In fact, over the last few days, more than one chair have called the crater home. At first, it was occupied by a leather recliner. Now, a traditional blue chair sits inside the pothole.

It's also resulted in a sort of "living room scene" sprouting up around the pothole, complete with a Christmas tree, speakers and flooring.

How it ended:

(Someone had way too much fun with that headline!)

A vigil remembering the now-infamous Grand Haven pothole was set up sometime Tuesday evening.

After days of jokes, staged scenes, and antics from visitors and businesses alike, someone took it upon themselves to fill in the hole just off North Beacon Boulevard.

Not to be defeated, the people of Grand Haven continued recognition of their favorite street crater.

I don't know what I love more, the passive-aggressive Michigander way of complaining about something without actually complaining about it, or the hilarious way they found entertainment in a pothole (Michigan is pretty boring in winter with no snow).

The pothole in question wasn't on public property (it was behind an Applebee's), so the city couldn't fill it.

They contacted the property owner, who probably wouldn't have rushed to fill it if it weren't for the absolute national embarrassment created by people drawing attention to it.

And I know you didn't come here for serious talk, but it's a small example of why it's important to make fun of the "potholes" in wider society (why this entire website exists).

Those wholesome jokes get stuff done!
