It's a parent's worst nightmare. During a recent Disney cruise, a 5-year-old girl fell off the fourth deck of the ship, into the ocean.
A passenger who witnessed it said in an interview:
There was some kind of commotion, then this awful scream from what I assume is the mother, and then this massive splash. It sounded like hitting pavement, nothing like if you jump into a pool, it was so loud.
So what did this girl's dad do? Of course, we all know.
He immediately jumped in after her and held her while treading water in the ocean for 20 minutes until a rescue boat arrived.
Cameras caught the aftermath:
Here's another angle:
Someone got a shot of them being hauled aboard, and mentioned the girl fell because she was sitting on a railing taking a picture.
NBC seemed to confirm this with a statement from a passenger named Gar Frantz:
Passenger Gar Frantz said he was on the fourth-floor deck when he saw a child sitting on the rail of the Disney Dream cruise ship while a man was taking a picture.
Then the child fell overboard.
A pastor claiming to be one of the passengers pushed back against that assertion, however:
The internet had some great responses:
One guy even shared a story of being saved by his own dad:
Another W for strong Dads, and every father out there who would've done the exact same thing!
