Michigan newlyweds Lawryn and Joe Fellwock had just departed on their flight from Detriot to San Juan, Puerto Rico where they would be sailing out on a Caribbean cruise for their honeymoon, when the young groom, Joe, said his lovely bride looked over at him and said eleven words that altered the course of their trip:
'Oh, blank, I don't have my passport. What do we do?'
The couple spent the flight trying to figure out a way to get her passport to San Juan before the cruise was scheduled to depart, but when nothing they could come up with would work out on the crunched timeline, Joe turned to the flight attendant for help.
The flight attendant, Dusty Dills, went to work right away to help the young couple. Joe said,
Dusty told us, you know, this here's what I can do, Joe. I'm flying back to Detroit right after this flight. I'm turning around. So if you can somehow get the passport to DTW around 9:00 or whatever it is I land, I can then take it with me the next day to Atlanta.
The time crunch was still a concern, but with nothing to lose, the couple agreed to the plan and recruited Joe's sister, Jackie (pictured above) to bring the passport to Dusty at the Detroit airport where she had just dropped off the couple a few hours earlier.
Lawryn was heartbroken over the whole situation, saying,
We were going to have to cancel or change our honeymoon and it was all going to be my fault.
I guess Joe knows now that one of the first responsibilities of a husband is to make sure everyone has all their travel documents. C'mon Joe.
After their flight landed, Dusty flew back to Detroit, where he met up with Jackie who gave him the passport, which he brought with him to Atlanta, where he handed it off to another flight attendant going on to San Juan, who was able to reunite Lawryn with her passport with just an hour and a half to spare before their cruise departed. All in a day's work.
Lawryn, who I'm sure is now a loyal Delta customer for life, said,
I consider that the greatest wedding gift we could have asked for. I felt like probably the luckiest bride on Earth.
There's a reason people pay the big bucks to fly Delta. You've got to hand it to them for going above and beyond for their customers.
(Plus, their snacks are better.)
