This is Healthy? Cosmo Rings in the New Year by Promoting Obesity
· Jan 4, 2021 · NottheBee.com

In the year of our Lord 1992, one of the greatest poets of the 20th century, Sir Mix-A-Lot, penned an iconic line in his masterpiece called "Baby Got Back" and it goes like this:

So Cosmo says you're fat

Well I ain't down with that

'Cause your waist is small and your curves are kickin'

And I'm thinkin' bout stickin'

To the beanpole dames in the magazines

You ain't it, Miss Thing

Give me a sista, I can't resist her

Red beans and rice didn't miss her

29 years ago, Sir Mix-A-Lot called out Cosmopolitan magazine for favoring smaller, more traditional, models and ignoring larger sistas. Some things happened and, well, it is now 2021 and it looks like Cosmo has done a complete 180.

Far be it from me to "fat-shame" anyone, but we have gone from a society where we decided it's wrong to make fun of someone's weight, to a society that promotes being morbidly obese as healthy. Check out Cosmo's most recent cover.

The headline says it all, with the bold declaration of "This is Healthy!" Cosmo is proclaiming that being very overweight is not only irrelevant to being healthy, but obesity is also in and of itself healthy.

We have entered clown world. And we may be past the point of no return.

I have plenty of snarky things I could say, but I think Matt Walsh summed it up perfectly on Twitter already.

Are we allowed to say this now? That it isn't a good or healthy thing to be fat?

I'll say it: Obesity is not healthy.

Fight me.

Recently, singer Lizzo got in trouble for drinking a smoothie, a clear attack on fat people everywhere. At least according to the pro-fat activists on Twitter. But in this instance, it was fringe activists who were upset. This headline from Cosmo confirms one important thing, this pro-fat movement isn't relegated to strange activists on Twitter. This is part of the mainstreaming of fat-culture in our day-to-day lives.

And, again, it's insane. But don't just laugh it off. This movement is brought to you by the same people who brought you radical feminism. It's all a part of critical theory, fat is just another marginalized group. And so far they've been able to push society further and further to the left and further and further from objective reality? Why would anyone think they would fail now?

The good news here is that this straight white male can now claim at least a little victimization for himself.

We've reached the end of this slippery slope. I hope you're happy Sir Mix-A-Lot. This cultural rot lies squarely on your shoulders.

This is one occasion when we all would have been better off if Sir Mix-A-Lot had lied.
