This Italian town has 46 residents and 30 of them are running for local office

The mountain village of Ingria, Italy, was named one of the most beautiful places in Italy in 2022, and it's easy to see why.

Just look at this place:

Gorgeous!

It's also the home of some of the most competitive local politics on the planet.

The popular tourist town has a total of 46 full-time residents, and 30 of them are running for office.

Here's one example of how crazy it is. The village's mayor Igor De Santis has held the position since 2009. His grandfather was mayor for 30 years before that. This year, the office is being challenged by Stefano Venuti, who is being supported by De Santis's mother, Milena Crosasso.

'I did ask [my mother] to join me but after she saw that Poletto's list was mostly women she decided to go with them,' said De Santis. 'They are all volunteers who have worked really hard for the village.'

It also doesn't hurt that Venuti promised De Santis's mother a councilor position.

But with two thirds of the populace running, these sorts of family betrayals are hardly surprising, and Crosasso doesn't think it will affect family relationships.

'Both my son and I want the best for the community and this is an opportunity to give voice to women's points of view without weakening family bonds,' she said.

If you ask me, Ingria is a warning to us all.

Think about it, if the bureaucracy in America keeps growing at the rate it is, it won't be long until we're all working for the government.
