The latest Republican with no hope of ever becoming president has dropped out of the race as of Sunday night.
Senator Tim Scott announced during an interview with fellow South Carolinian Trey Gowdy on Fox News that he was leaving the race.
When I go back to Iowa it will not be as a presidential candidate. I am suspending my campaign. I think Iowa voters, who are the most remarkable people on the planet have been really clear that they're telling me, "not now, Tim." I don't think that they're saying, Trey, "No" but I do think they're saying "not now."
Gowdy, you can tell, was not expecting to be breaking this kind of news on his show. Not that Scott's move is all that surprising in the grand scheme of things, but he clearly didn't tell Gowdy beforehand.
Gowdy tried to hype Scott up and tried to encourage him, but it was clear that Scott was ready to move on.
Tim Scott is well-liked, has a high approval rating, and is respected by many.
It will be interesting to see who Scott throws his support to!
