Get out your notebooks, people. Cuz this is how you take back women's sports:
"Emily" Bridges, formerly known as Zach, was set to compete in this weekend's women's British National Omnium Championship bicycle race. Bridges has previously competed against men (because he is one), and "set a national junior men's record over 25 miles in 2018." He was in the Great Britain Academy program "as a male rider until being dropped in 2020."
Needless to say, his participation in the women's race would be unfair.
But the women, they fixed that:
Emily Bridges, who formerly competed against men as Zach Bridges, was cut from the women's British National Omnium Championship on Saturday.
This would have been Bridges' first race against women. The athlete only began hormone therapy last year, according to the BBC.
Bridges was determined "ineligible" to compete by the UCI, cycling's governing body, after women threatened to boycott the race.
Well done, ladies.
Well done.
See, all we really have to do is have our girls boycott any women's event featuring XY chromosomes.
It seems tough, but I promise you it'll work.
If we did it, this whole bit of nonsense would be over before we knew it.
