The girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce has won the prestigious honor of TIME Magazine's person of the year for 2023.

Kelce's girlfriend, Taylor Swift, is a singer with a dedicated fan base in her own right.

Kelce's girlfriend often attends his games and cheers him on. In TIME's article, she had this to say about that:

She joins the ranks of other TIME honorees, including Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin.

On social media, some people were frustrated by the decision, noting that TIME had the opportunity to be more progressive than choosing a woman for the award.

Kelce's girlfriend, a former country music star, is particularly popular among white, middle-aged women who live in the suburbs.

Kelce has not commented on TIME's decision to honor his girlfriend. The Chiefs player recently became the fastest tight end to reach 11,000 career receiving yards:

Kelce's 27-yard catch in the second quarter of the Chiefs' 31-17 win over the Las Vegas Raiders put him past the milestone mark. He did it in his 154th game, making him the fastest in NFL chronicle to hit 11K. Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez was the previous standard bearer at 191 games.

Kelce needed just 15 yards to hit 11,000 coming into the game, which he finished with six receptions for 91 yards and 11,076 for his career.
