Update 10:13 p.m.: Trump is facing more than 30 counts "related to business fraud" and is expected to be arraigned Tuesday, according to CNN.
A Manhattan grand jury has voted to indict former President Donald Trump on charges involving an alleged 2016 hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels, who claims they had an affair together, according to numerous outlets.
Per Fox News:
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has been investigating Trump for hush money payments made leading up to the 2016 presidential election.
These include the $130,000 payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, and the $150,000 payment made to former Playboy model Karen McDougal, Fox News Digital has learned.
According to AP:
Trump, who has denied any wrongdoing and has repeatedly attacked the investigation as politically motivated, was expected to surrender to authorities next week, though the details were still being worked out, according to a person familiar with the matter who was not authorized to discuss a matter that remained under seal.
Trump is apparently expected to surrender to be arraigned.
Meanwhile, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis came out and said that "Florida will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda."
The exact felony crime(s) Trump will be charged with are not yet known but will be announced at his arraignment.
This indictment comes during the buildup to the 2024 presidential election and after Trump's lawyer claimed the case was "dead."
This is the first-ever criminal case against a former U.S. president.
