Hawkins BBQ, a food truck on the Isle of Man, has become quite popular with visitors to the island ... as well as the local wildlife.

After a spate of food thefts from aggressive seagulls, the food truck is now offering Seagull Insurance for one pound, about $1.30, so that you can get a replacement meal in the (somewhat likely) event that a hungry seagull targets your lunch.

The BBQ truck posted the new meal insurance policy to its Facebook page, saying,

Starting today, you can now purchase 'Seagull insurance' for only £1, which means you get the replacement meal on the house

We will also be donating all proceeds of this 'policy' to Manx Wildlife Trust, who work tirelessly to protect the islands wildlife, including those pesky gulls.

I'm not sure if customers are really as interested in donating to the seagull's preservation as they are in preserving their own meals, but either way, it's not a bad idea.

Seagulls are a protected animal in the UK, and while their population has grown, so has their love for french fries and ice cream. While the food truck can't do anything about the aggressive birds in the neighborhood, they can at least provide their customers with the assurance of a full meal.

Chef and co-owner of Hawkins BBQ, Matt Hawkins, told Fox News Digital,

We wanted to give patrons peace of mind when enjoying our meals. The public's reaction has been fantastic thus far.

Other local restaurants are also beginning to pick up on the idea of providing seagull insurance to their patrons, so don't be surprised if someday soon it comes to a beachfront restaurant near you.
