United Nations Council, Including US Ambassador, Holds Moment of Silence for "Butcher of Tehran"
· May 20, 2024 · NottheBee.com

Nope, you didn't stumble onto The Babylon Bee's website. This is real.

That's just Mozambique and other backwater nations, right? It's not like US Deputy Ambassador Robert Wood is - aaaand he's standing right there. 👇

I understand that there is nuance and decorum involved in international relations, but c'mon, have a spine. You don't have to stand for every Islamic theocrat who dies in a helicopter crash, especially when they are known as "Butcher."

As Independent Journal Review notes:

Raisi, the second-most powerful official in Iran, oversaw the harsh crackdown on protesters after 22-year-old Mahsa Amini was killed.

Remember her?

And Forbes notes,

Raisi served as the prosecutor general of Tehran between 1989 and 1994, when he earned the nickname ‘Butcher of Tehran.' He participated in a so-called death commission that ordered the executions of thousands of political prisoners in 1988.

Well, at least the US government didn't offer its condolences to the regime that routinely buses in people to shout "Death to America," so we can - aaaand yeah, nope, they did that too.

What about NATO, our fierce protector against the commie/jihadi alliance in the east?

Welp.

Anyway, these are the same group of people that will condemn and destroy someone if they believe men can't be women, liked a tweet once by Trump, or follow Jesus Christ.

Glad to know which side our leaders are on!
