Don't mess with 'Nam vets:
George Karkoc lives on Tujunga Avenue in Los Angeles' Studio City. On November 7, he heard a scream from his neighbor, who had discovered a naked man in her house.
The naked man can be seen on surveillance footage screaming as he meandered down the sidewalk. After picking up a sign outside a home, he entered the open gate that led to Karkoc's neighbor's home, continuing to randomly shout in a foreign language as he did.
Police say the naked man drove to the neighborhood before stripping down to the buff, though they aren't sure why.
(I can guess π)

Karkoc confronted the man and warned him he would shoot him if he did not leave. When the man didn't listen, Karkoc ran back inside and grabbed his gun. At that point, the naked man picked Karkoc up and threw him on the ground, breaking both his legs.
Here's some of the video showing how the unnamed attacker had Karkoc pinned:
Karkoc made sure the bad guy was deleted.
A GoFundMe for his medical bills can be found here.
This is how Karkoc's son described the attack:
...two days after my father's 79th birthday, my dad, George, a Vietnam veteran, was attacked in his own home by a naked man. Before reaching George, the attacker assaulted two female residents β one an elderly woman named Lily, who has late-stage Parkinson's disease, and the other a young married woman. George used his self-defense skills to protect them, especially his wife, putting himself in harm's way to prevent further violence.
During the attack, George was forced to use deadly force. As he was tackled to the ground, he was able to stop the perpetrator with his gun, preventing further harm to his wife and the others. As a result of his bravery, George suffered severe injuries, including two fractured ankles and a fractured hip. He is currently in the hospital recovering from surgery. Lily is struggling with her Parkinson's while trying to heal from the trauma, and the young woman is now dealing with PTSD from the attack. George's wife, who has late-stage Parkinson's, is also deeply affected by the incident and the sudden absence of her primary caregiver.
Betsy Weiss, one of his neighbors, called it a "textbook example of self-defense" and said she hopes Karkoc doesn't face charges.
Don't get your hopes up: This is California, after all!
