On Monday, video showing a June 19th attack on a French woman and little girl in the town of Bordeaux circulated wide on the internet. It is not easy to watch.

According to the tweet, the African attacker was "well known to the police," indicating that authorities knew he was a problem but for some reason he was still free to roam – a phenomenon that seems to be gripping the Western world, especially where skin color and ethnicity are involved.

Some accounts have reported that the woman was 73 and the 7-year-old girl was her granddaughter. It is unclear if the man thought to attempt a kidnap of the girl when he grabbed her in the video.

French politicians and public figures yesterday condemned the attack. Conservative politician Eric Zemmour called on the French people to "wake up", pointing out that "this is what they have done to our country" – alluding to the country's irresponsible immigration policy. Right-wing politician Marine Le Pen calls the attack "despicable" and "terrifying", pointing out that the perpetrator is well known to the police.

The attacker is now in police custody. The woman is currently at the hospital and the extent of her injuries is unknown.
