Virtual school has eliminated snow days. But this WV district called one anyway, and the viral letter they sent announcing it is the most wholesome thing you'll read today.

For a kid, what is better than a snow day? Literally nothing.

Snow days are the pinnacle of excitement for a child. It's like kid-gambling: You know when it's supposed to snow but you never know until you wake up the next morning if you've been blessed with a day off school.

It's pure suspense and excitement. The thrill of school getting called off vs. the crushing disappointment when it doesn't.

Kids even have superstitious tricks they utilize to try to will snow days into existence. Most involve ice cubes and toilets.

Well, one of the many things that absolutely sucks about pandemic-age virtual schooling is that it has rendered snow days nonexistent. If you're attending school from your living room on a screen all day, it doesn't matter if it dumped a foot of snow overnight. You've still got school.

Even worse, people are speculating that post-Covid, snow days might not be a thing ever again, since kids can just virtual school if it snows too much for a safe commute. It's already happened this year. When snowstorms hit, schools just go virtual.

Which stinks for today's kids. It deprives them of the glorious, Calvin-and-Hobbes-in-real-life snow day, which is a rite every child should be able to experience a couple-few times per year.

Enter Jefferson County Schools in West Virginia.

They decided to call a snow day. Even though they didn't have to. Because they get it.

Read the amazing letter they sent out on Tuesday, announcing the snow day in advance:

What did I tell you? Most wholesome thing you'll read today.

The letter went viral on Facebook, spreading all kinds of happy.

The top comment as I type this is, "Ok, this made me cry a little."

God bless the administrators in this district that made this call to bless the children in their district. Just awesome.
