As a kid, I remember being super excited about peeling McDonald's Monopoly stickers off my fries, hoping to score an Xbox (or a million dollars that I could use to buy an Xbox).

As a parent, I hadn't realized my children had been deprived of McDonald's Monopoly until McDonald's recently announced they were bringing back the game in the U.S. — for the first time since 2014.

2014!

There will be a few changes to avoid scandals like the infamous 2001 McDonald's heist, where Jerome Jacobson, known as "Uncle Jerry," stole all the winning tickets straight from the factory and sold the jackpot $1 million tickets for $50,000 each.

Namely, the Monopoly board will be virtual on the company's rewards app. There will be stickers on some food items that will need to be scanned in, but there will also be digital-only pieces too. Here's a full list.

In addition to small dollar amounts, rewards points, and food prizes, here's what McDonald's is offering for prizes:

Baltic Avenue and Mediterranean Avenue (100 available)

  • An Audio-Technica Turntable

Oriental Avenue, Vermont Avenue, and Connecticut Avenue (7 available)

  • Choice of a Polaris Ranger ATV, Indian Challenger motorcycle, or Polaris Slingshot three-wheel.

St. Charles Place, States Avenue, and Virginia Avenue (5 available)

  • 1 million Airlines AAdvantage miles

St. James Place, Tennessee Avenue, and New York Avenue (15 available)

  • Trip for four to Universal Orlando Resort

Kentucky Avenue, Indiana Avenue, and Illinois Avenue (21 available)

  • Trip for four to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

Atlantic Avenue, Ventnor Avenue, and Marvin Gardens (5 available)

  • 2026 Jeep® Grand Cherokee (Limited)

Pacific Avenue, North Carolina Avenue, and Pennsylvania Avenue (25 available)

  • $10,000 Lowe's gift card

Park Place and Boardwalk (1 available)

  • 2026 Winnebago® View® 24D RV (motorhome)

Notice what's not on the list?

There's no $1 million prize for collecting pieces.

But there is still a $1 million cash prize.

For every collectible piece, you get one bonus play on their app. In order to win the million, you have to submit your bonus play at exactly the right moment, day or night, during the weeks of the promotion.

The odds of winning a Bonus Play Prize will be determined by the time the Participant taps the 'Tap to Play' button to initiate the Bonus Play.

They don't even list the odds of winning the million.

I guess this is how they're avoiding the previous cheating issue, but even with the nigh impossibility of submitting at the exact moment the $1 million prize is available, there are other prizes being awarded during the bonus plays that are almost as good as the collectible pieces, including a daily $10,000 prize, another car, and a travel trailer.

Here's a link with the official rules and all the prizes available.

McDonald's hopes the game will keep their momentum of growing sales going. It will almost certainly keep the momentum of America's growing waistlines going.
