Unless there‘s some major detail that exonerates this officer, it looks like he pointed his loaded blaster at kids while threatening to kill them and never identified who he was or why he was detaining them.

More from WTOC 11:

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is conducting an internal investigation due to an incident involving a deputy.

The sheriff's office says the incident happened in a neighborhood on Hilton Head Island Sunday evening, September 28, 2025.

The deputy who was involved in the incident has been suspended.

The original poster of the video (the aunt of one of the boys) claims the deputy was drunk and confronted the boys about what they were up to before returning to grab his gear.

One note: When the kid in the red shirt hit the deputy, it did open up legal justification for the officer to defend himself. Whether or not he is at fault for harassment (following the kids), not properly identifying himself, or using excessive force prior to that will be part of the investigation.

Even if the cop was in the wrong, it is unwise to bring fists to a gunfight.

We will update this story should more details be released.
