Man, whenever I think I've explained just how much you should hate journalists, new info comes out that just makes you need to hate them more.
This is a long, complicated, tragic story that the Washington Post decided to cast as centering around Libs of TikTok. But the more details come out the more you realize just how awful the trans movement is, how depraved the world is, and how evil the media is.
In February, a young lady named Dagny Benedict, who went by they/them pronouns and the gender-neutral name "Nex," died the day after she got into at a fight at her public school in Oklahoma.
Nex Benedict collapsed the day after an altercation in a girls' bathroom at the public high school they attended, a school where relatives say the 10th-grader, who used they/them pronouns, had been bullied for being nonbinary.
According to the Washington Post, Dagny was put in a compromised position of bullying because Oklahoma requires students to use bathrooms that correspond to their birth sex. And Oklahoma also has Chaya Raichik, the woman behind Libs of TikTok, as an advisor for the state's library board.
Because of these connections, LoTT was tied to the death of Dagny.
What WaPo never established was that the fight in question had anything to do with Dagny's "gender identity." They basically reported a rumor, and then tied that rumor to LoTT because they've got a narrative to push.
The story from the get-go was that Dagny was bullied because of being "trans," which was somehow LoTT's and Republican's fault, and died from her injuries the next day.
Even the president implied this. With no evidence.
Then the autopsy came out. Tragically, the toxicology report showed that Dagny didn't die from the fight, but rather committed suicide by overdosing after the fight.
Oklahoma non-binary Nex Benedict died by suicide from a drug overdose, not from injuries sustained in a school fight, a medical examiner has confirmed.
The Oklahoma Medical Examiner's report said Benedict's death was caused by a combined overdose of Diphenhydramine and Fluoxetine, according to News On 6.
Nex, 16, who was born Dagny, died on February 8, just a day after sustaining head trauma in a bathroom fight in Owasso High School, Oklahoma.
The Left will still contend that Dagny was bullied into suicide because of evil Republicans and Libs of TikTok. But the initial falsehood, that she was killed by bullies was found to be a lie.
Officials even found that Dagny started the fight herself, even though the mutual bullying from each side had been ongoing for months at that point.
Activists want the other students involved prosecuted, even though the fight was not instigated by them and the fight was not related to Dagny's death.
But there's EVEN MORE to the story.
To add to all of the tragedy involved in this case, Dagny was molested and raped by her own father multiple times. She lived a horrible life we wouldn't wish on our worst enemies. She tragically took her own life. But Taylor Lorenz and the Washington Post STILL tried to use this story to destroy Chaya Raichik and cast all Republicans as evil.
As is usual in these cases, there is much more to the story. A hint was provided by the Washington Post on February 21st, 2024, that never made it beyond that report. Describing Dagney's funeral, the article states that Dagney's cousin spoke "along with her mother and Benedict. Nex's biological mother was among the mourners; their father, who is in prison for abuse, was not." That last detail may have been more impactful than realized.
On July 17th, 2019, when Dagney was 11 years old, an arrest warrant was issued for James Everette Hughes, Dagney's father. He was arrested on July 31st, 2019, in Sebastian County, AR. The charge was for rape of a minor under the age of 14, during the time period between May 2017 and August 2017, when Dagney was nine years old. Among many witnesses was Sue Benedict, the grandmother who would adopt Dagney in 2019.
Hughes would accept a plea deal to sexual assault in the second degree on November 27th, 2019. He was sentenced to five years in prison with ten years suspended. He would be placed on the sex offender list and have no contact with his daughter. He was arrested again on January 25th, 2024, by the Little Rock Police Department for failing to comply with reporting as a sex offender, two weeks before Dagney would take her own life.
A man sexually assaulted his daughter, completely messed her up for life, only served 5 years, then was arrested again just before she took her own life.
The media told you none of this. They only focused on Libs of TikTok and Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt.
It's very reasonable to assume that Dagny's "non-binary" identity was the result of sexual abuse.
But those aren't the kinds of relevant facts the WaPo is interested in. They'd rather report rumors, hearsay, and conspiratorial connect-the-dots about LoTT being on a library board causing this tragedy when they KNEW Dagny's dad was an abuser.
They only report the facts that are convenient, using a dead teenage girl to spin a narrative.
