This one young Amish worker summed up the attitude of those volunteering in a single perfect sentence:
It just fills my heart with joy just watching people get their life back again.
Materials, donated. Time, donated, Labor, donated.
The help is not coming right away from our federal government, so people are stepping up on what locals call a "multi year process" just to get back on their feet.
And Chimney Rock is just one of the towns that was almost completely destroyed in the lower Appalachians.
