Watch: Check out the "Safe Space" bulletproof desk that was invented by a father-son duo

First, there is no such thing as bulletproof.

Second, this desk seems pretty dang bullet resistant:

Can you imagine having one of these suckers in an active shooter situation?

The "Defender Safe Space Desk" was invested by Todd and Donald Drummond of Mississippi after the Parkland shooting in Florida in 2018, which left 17 dead.

A student can crawl under the desk and pull the door shut with a handle. A second handle above their head can be pulled to keep an attacker from opening the door. Each desk weighs 130 pounds, making it difficult for an attacker to easily tip over.

There is no information available yet, however, on what calibers the desks will be able to stop.

The desks cost $1,800 each, but the Drummonds say they'll be working with schools that want them but can't afford them to provide them free of charge.
