In the midst of chaos, hope springs eternal.

According to a woman named Taylor Grace, who posted the video on TikTok, this took place at a lake on private property in Rutherford County, North Carolina (Taylor wanted people to know this wasn't taking place in flooded areas that may contain dangerous debris or contaminants).

A few comments:

I want you to understand: This event was promoted back in August.

Since then, Rutherford County got absolutely walloped by Hurricane Helene. WCNC Charlotte says it was "among the hardest hit by Helene."

Entire towns were slammed with historic flooding that ripped through homes and storefronts deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Now, emergency crews are racing to find people still unaccounted for amidst the devastation in Rutherford County, one of the hardest-hit areas.

There are dive teams in the floodwaters right now, searching for bodies. County manager Steve Garrison said it looked "like an atomic bomb went off" when he saw Lake Lure after the storm.

This is the context for this mass baptism.

Hundreds of people with destroyed homes and missing relatives - people isolated from the rest of the world in the midst of unbearable tragedy - gathered on a lake to make a public profession of faith in Jesus Christ by getting baptized.

Hope amid the ashes. โœŠ
