Rand Paul was asked about Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar and her continual demonstration of hatred towards America, and his response is utterly perfect, even if it makes the left unhappy.
Dr. Paul isn't talking about shipping Omar back to Somalia for good. He's saying that the level of ingratitude exhibited by Ilhan Omar, in criticizing this country that has given her so much, might be cured if Omar visited her home country and saw just how bad things could be.
Speaking of refugees that he personally knows who have relocated to his hometown, Rand says this:
I've never heard one of them say that America is a terrible place or be unappreciative of our country. Most of them are thankful.
I've met people who've come here from behind the Iron Curtain, they got away from communism. They're some of the best Americans we have because they really appreciate how great our country is.
Typically, immigrants and refugees make great citizens because they appreciate America on a different level. They understand the freedom and opportunity they have in the USA that they wouldn't have in their own country.
Then there's Ilhan Omar, who regularly condemns America as a hateful, racist, oppressive place with specific examples – while saying "some people did something" in reflecting to 9/11.
Here's the rest of the quote from the Kentucky senator:
Then I hear Omar say 'Oh, America is a terrible place! I'd love to see justice and there's no justice here!' It's like, she came here and we fed her, we clothed her, she got welfare, she got school, she got healthcare, and then, lo and behold, she has the honor of winning a seat in Congress, and she says we're a terrible country?
I think that's about as ungrateful as you can get. And so, while I'm not saying we forcibly send her anywhere, I'm willing to contribute to buy her a ticket to go visit Somalia. And I think she could look and maybe learn a little bit about the disaster that is Somalia that has no capitalism, no God-given rights guaranteed in a constitution, and has about seven different tribes that have been fighting each other for about 40 years.
I mean, Rand Paul absolutely destroys Omar with these comments.
Unfortunately, Omar's supporters are likely to see this as a win for Omar. There's nothing more important for the Left than being a victim. When Republicans call you out on your ridiculousness, it's just more proof in their eyes that she's a marginalized minority.
But Senator Paul is absolutely right. There is no way on earth someone can be more ungrateful than Omar is being when she criticizes the country that gave her everything she has.
