Apparently, there was a 2020 reunion episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air that I missed. And something in it offended the paper-thin sensibilities of the weenies at the BBC. So with their frail, shivering hands they've gone and slapped a trigger warning at the front of the episode.
The warning reads, "Contains discriminatory language which some viewers may find offensive."
Wow! Yeah, wouldn't want to offend someone!
Some groups are getting fed up with the BBC's slide down the crocodile mile of wokeness, and they're demanding they defend this latest move (Fresh Prince was just one of many programs that now open with a similar warning).
The BBC explained the move to The Daily Mail saying,
"Attitudes and language change over time and our approach, just like other streaming services, is to tell viewers when a show includes something that may be offensive, inappropriate or outdated and because some people aren't offended, it doesn't mean that others aren't."
Yes, we must be careful to always be up-to-date!
Talk about an unwinnable game.
SOMEONE will always be offended by SOMETHING. Because some people just happen to be the absolute worst. That's okay. But if you kowtow to every tea-sipping Karen, pretty soon trigger warnings will be the only thing you'll be watching in merry England.
I can't find anywhere that says exactly what in the episode got the BBC all trembly, so I'm forced to conclude it was the Carlton dance.
